How To: Tortilla Chips

One of my favorite snacks is chips and salsa…but I’m very particular about the salsa that I eat.  The chips, not so much.  However, one night, on a voyage to eat something more than just your traditional salt or lime flavored tortilla chips, I decide to create my own using seasonings that I enjoy.  So easy; the best thing I’ve done!

The process is very simple as is the ingredient list.  The main items are:

  • corn tortillas
  • vegetable oil (I used Canola)
  • whatever seasonings you prefer

Cut the corn tortillas into small triangles; toss in oil

I seasoned mine with:

  • kosher salt & black pepper
  • pinch of garlic salt
  • ground red pepper
  • a little oregano

I then baked them on 400 degrees for 20 minutes.  The time may vary depending on the heat of your oven.  You don’t want to remove them until their crisp and browned a bit.

This is such a great idea for left over tortillas.  I always have tortillas leftover when I make tacos and now, here’s an easy way to get rid of them.

Enjoy with your favorite salsa.  My fave is Jack’s Special Salsa.  This is the best salsa ever!  It’s so fresh…once you have it you’ll never eat jarred salsa again.  Check out their website and see their other flavors.

Enjoy!
