Homemade Lavender Lemonade

Lemonade on a warm spring or summer day…is there anything more refreshing? While I was abstaining from alcohol, I think I mentioned here that I drank a lot of water and sweet tea.  What I forgot to mention is that I also made a pitcher of lemonade – out of sheer boredom and because I’ve never made lemonade before.  I was a little bored with my no alcohol situation so I whipped up a little lemonade but not just any lemonade…lavender lemonade.  Making lemonade isn’t overly complicated – I made a lavender simple syrup to sweeten the lemonade instead of regular granulated sugar. Loved it! The best part was having leftover lavender simple syrup to sweeten tea.

There’s no real recipe here I just toyed around with the flavors as I went along but check out the Pioneer Woman if you need a lemonade recipe.  I’ve never used her recipe but I’ve never had a recipe from her that wasn’t good – she’s pretty awesome.

You can make a regular simple syrup or you can make a flavored one; rosemary or mint would be a delicious option.  To add a little something extra to this lemonade, top it with prosecco or champagne.

Have a great weekend!
